Friends, there is much to celebrate right now.

April is Deaf History Month.

This week is both National Library Week and Disability Book Week.

And today is Earth Day.

So much goodness wrapped together, and all at once, led to an idea. A way to honor each of these things that matter so much to me.

I’m a former high school librarian.

I’m deaf.

I write d/Deaf and hard-of-hearing characters.

I write about conservation.

I write about activism, and sometimes about accidental activists.

I write historical nonfiction.

I write historical fiction.

This week feels like the perfect time to go big! And I do mean big. Are you ready?

If we have 100 entries or more across all my social media platforms combined, I’ll raffle off one free in-person author visit to a school or library of your choice. Yep! Free! Zero expenses to the school.

Though my books are geared toward middle-schoolers and elementary kids, I love speaking to any age group and have presented at many high schools.

As a former school librarian, I know the biggest obstacle to bringing authors in is the cost. I get that frustration, and I want to remove the barrier.

Hooray for librarians! For teachers! For students! For books! I’m so excited to celebrate you!

Regardless of the number of entries, I will draw several names, and those winners will receive a book, either one of my own or one by another author.

The deadline to enter is this Saturday, April 25th at midnight, and winners will be selected on Sunday, April 26th.

You don’t have to be a librarian or a teacher to enter. You can gift this author visit to the school of your choice.

Rules to enter:

  1. Follow my social media account(s) on any or all platform(s) (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, TikTok)
  2. Find the contest entry post on any of those platforms, and answer one or more of the following questions: What do you most want to know about my books, publishing, or me? Essentially, an AMA (ask me anything). Or answer: Why do you want to win this contest? Or answer: Which of my books is your favorite and why? Or answer: How do you celebrate Deaf History Month, National Library Week, Disability Book Week, or Earth Day? Share your ideas!
  3. Tag a friend in your reply.
  4. Share the contest post at least once.

That’s it!
